Ingredients
Scale
- 1 6 oz can tomato paste ~ 2/3 cup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water, plus more if necessary
- 1 1/4 cup pitted dates
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground clove (or 1 drop therapeutic grade clove essential oil)
For the Barbecued Meat!
- 3 pounds pork shoulder (you can also use beef brisket)
Instructions
For the Barbecue Sauce!
- In a food processor or blender, mix together all ingredients except for the meat.
For the Barbecued Meat!
- Place meat in a crockpot, instant pot, or oven safe pot.
- Pour sauce on top. You can save some to use as a dipping sauce if you’d like! Be sure the meat is fully submerged, or it will dry out. Simply add water on top.
- Cook in crock pot on low for eight hours, choose the meat setting on your instant pot, or in the oven at 250 degrees for 6-8 hours.
- Serve and enjoy!
