Where/ when did you first hear about Whole30?
Some of my friends on Instagram started Whole 30, I had some baby weight to lose, and I needed to revamp my eating, so it seemed like a great program to try.
When was your Whole30?
July 2014
What was the biggest challenge you overcame during Whole30?
Food as a social event. I realized everything we did somehow revolved around food. In the first week of Whole 30, I went to a gender reveal party, a birthday party, out to dinner with friends, and had a Sunday afternoon lunch with friends from church. I live in the very southern state of Alabama, and pretty much everything I was offered at these gatherings wasn’t compliant. It was tricky in the beginning, and saying no to my favorite things like cupcakes and homemade lasagna was tough.
What are some of the Non Scale Victories you experienced?
Each and every time I passed up something unhealthy, I had a small victory inside. The first time I said no, it was seriously tough. I was mad, I wanted to quit, and I wanted to eat what everyone else was eating. As the 30 days rocked on, I said no more often, and really felt empowered by the self control I learned through Whole 30. I also had more energy, felt better about myself, and had better skin. There were so many things I experienced during Whole 30 that I wasn’t prepared for, it was truly a life changing experience.
What was your scale victory? 🙂
14 pounds.
Do you have any words of wisdom for anyone currently doing a Whole30?
Yes! Stick to it! Your victory in the end is worth more than any thing you think you want to put in your body. Is it hard? Yes! Is it worth? YES!
What is something you wished you had known before starting Whole30?
You can eat white potatoes!! I didn’t know this until about 10 days in, and it would have definitely made that first week easier.
Are there any specific meals or recipes you loved during your Whole30?
Yes! I loved eating chicken salad and chia seed pudding. They became treats when I was tired of eggs and grilled chicken. You can find those recipes here: Chia Seed Pudding and Chicken Salad. You can also read more about my Whole 30 journey on my blog here!
